Sunday 12th December 2010, Easton College
The weather decided to give a brief respite to the cold spell, this allowed the warm up arena to defrost sufficiently for Indoor Carriage Driving (Indoor Horse Driving Trials UK) event to take place at Easton College. The weather did however affect the event to some degree as the entries were down by a third to 14, after two late withdrawals on the day.
Indoor Carriage Driving is an event over three phases, firstly the Dressage Test, then the Cones (accuracy test) and lastly the Obstacles, two obstacles designed to test both speed and accuracy, run against the clock. There 14 entries were competing in Novice Pony, Novice Horse, Open Pony and Club Class sections.
The sun did pop out on occasion to warm things up, but everyone was glad that there was no wind to speak of, or things could have been very much colder. The competition was fierce despite the drivers and grooms being wrapped in many layers. There were also some in Fancy Dress, as this event was the Christmas meeting, and the effort was much appreciated by the organisers and spectators.
